Branch Coach: Sensei Peter is a 6th dan and the branch coach for Southampton University Club. He runs two others clubs – one in Poole and another private one in Southampton.
Acting Branch Master: Olly started Shorinji Kempo when he came to Southampton University in 1999. He is currently 2nd dan and took on the role as club instructor in September 2009.
Club Captain: The club captain is responsible for maintaining club standards and overseeing the organization of club activities. Yasser (1st dan) is club captain for 2011-12.
Club Treasurer: Give this person your money! The treasurer collects training fees and keeps a register of who attends each session. They also have membership forms for new joiners. You need to register with the treasurer at the start of every session as it is from this that eligibility for grading is tracked. Gemma (yellow belt) has been elected as Treasurer for 2011-12.
Club Secretary: Collects and manages club administration including membership and grading applications. Teresa (yellow belt) has been elected as Secretary for 2011-12.
Social Secretary: It is the social secretary’s responsibility (!) to encourage members to go to the pub after training (it’s part of the class!). They also arrange club socials (see our gallery for examples). Owen (green belt) has been elected Social Sec for 2011-12.
